EMCI programme

In cooperation with the European Commission, the European Parliament and the EMCI Consortium, the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the University of Warsaw

offers a postgraduate, two-semester intensive course of conference interpreting

EUROPEAN MASTERS IN CONFERENCE INTERPRETING

The study programme is shared by all the member institutions of the EMCI Consortium and it consists of 400 class contact hours (plus self-directed study - 556 hours in total) of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, conducted by professional Polish and foreign conference interpreters, with the use of the latest professional conference equipment (cabins and laboratories); speech-therapy exercises; lectures on the European institutions and on the theory of conference interpretation.

Apart from that, the programme provides an opportunity of an internship in the European institutions (The Directorate General for Interpretation at the European Commission and the European Parliament) and a two-week training in one of the member institutions of the EMCI Consortium.

The study programme is organized in response to the demand for conference interpreters to work in the institutions of the European Union.

Classes are conducted from October to June, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Head: prof. Małgorzata Tryuk
